Co-Op, Elm Park ‘taped off after attempted smash and grab’

This morning (June 2), a vehicle was used in a break-in at a Co-Op in Elm Park, which has resulted in its closure. The incident occurred in Station Parade, where the London Metropolitan Police were contacted at approximately 3:30 a.m. in response to allegations of an incident.

Officers arrived at the scene where the storefront was severely damaged. A perimeter cordon has been erected around the convenience store chain and a Ford Transit Chassis Cab.

There have been no arrests made at this early scene. It is unknown which items were stolen from the store or when it will reopen.

A spokesperson for the MPS stated, “Police are investigating reports of a vehicle-facilitated break-in at a store on Station Parade in Elm Park.” Friday, June 2, at 03.30 hours, the police were notified of the incident after receiving a communication about it.

“Flying Squad is conducting an investigation and initial CCTV inquiries have been conducted.” Detectives will swiftly continue the investigation. No arrests have been made as of yet.”

A Co-op representative stated, “There was an incident early this morning (Friday, 2 June) involving a failed attempt on the community’s ATM. The store is closed while the extent of the damage is assessed; it will reopen as soon as it’s possible to continue serving the community.

We urge anyone who may have witnessed or heard anything to contact the police, who are conducting an investigation. Please contact police at 101 with any information, referencing case number CAD870/02JUNE. Crimestoppers can be reached anonymously at 0800 555 111.
