Jason Phinn, 35, of Strathleven Road, Brixton, SW2, has been charged with the murder of his mother, 64. He was presented to Croydon Magistratres Court on November 4 where he was remanded into prison to be held at-least until a November 7 hearing at the Old Bailey.

Christine Eugene, 64, was found injured in a property on Strathleven Road on Thursday, November 7 in the AM. Police and paramedics met her in a critical condition at 8:10am and she was rushed to hospital where she died from her injuries at approximately 10pm. It is not known the exact nature of her injuries.

Jason Phinn was immediately arrested at the scene of the incident.

Phinn has previous convictions for drugs, and in 2010 he was part of a group of individuals distributing Class A drugs such as cocaine and heroine. Police raided a flat in Ladybank, Birch Hill where they met a bathroom locked from the inside. When they ‘broke down’ the door, Phinn was desperately attempting to flush the drugs down the toilet.

After searching the property, police retrieved 30 wraps of cocaine and heroin and £980 in cash hidden in a pair of trainers, and he was sentenced to 3 years imprisonment.
