London’s Joseph Mbogo, formerly Joseph Mukisa, a convicted paedophile, of 31B Winchester Street, SW1V 4NZ, has threatened inmates at HMP Brixton with “black magic” if they do not comply with his lifestyle demands on the wing. Inmates reported the child predator to wing staff out of fear of his ‘religious power’.
The sex offender was sentenced on the 13th of December, 2021 at Inner London Crown Court, Holborn, to a total of 36 months imprisonment for sexual communication with a child, and for causing or inciting a child to engage in sexual activity without penetration. He was handed a 10 year sexual harm prevention order, will be on the sex offenders register for 10 years, must forfeit his mobile phone that was central to his conviction, and must pay a victim surcharge of £190.

Those who have encountered Mbogo describe witnessing him making ‘chants’ and ‘eerie meditations’ in public display. Controlling and coercive behaviour was a key characteristic in his sexual violence.
Speaking to The Evening Wiki, one of Mbogo’s cell-mates described the following: “There was once occasion that led me to demanding that he move cell. He told me he would ‘end my life’ because I disagreed with a sick comment he made. He said that any man in the world could end up raping a minor, no matter how much you think you couldn’t.
It stuck with me, and the following morning, I repeated that I felt uncomfortable with what he said, and he lost it. He began threatening me and my family and said his ‘demonic power will haunt me forever’ if I continue talking to him in such a manner. I don’t wish to go into much detail but I got rid of him that day and had no more cell-mates after that.”
An aggravating factor in the criminal’s sentencing was the use of BDSM. Mbogo fantasized about exerting sexual power over minors, having an obsession with dominance and sadomasochism. His educational background in philosophy meant that he could exercise profound psychological manipulation over young people, and this was what gave him most pleasure.
HMP Brixton is an end-of-term prison where offenders are close to release back into the community.
Joseph Mbogo’s, or Joseph Mukisa’s, conduct was referred to the Wing Manager and an investigation was launched involving both Mbogo and several complainants. The violence reduction team mediated and all concerned parties were heard and interventions were put in place.
