Second man charged with murder after man, 23, stabbed to death in Dagenham

A second man has been charged with murder after a 23-year-old man was stabbed and killed in Dagenham in April. Haseeb Bhatti, 23, was found critically injured by the emergency services in Rothwell Gardens in Dagenham at around 1.30am on April 20, where he later died.

Police arrested and charged one man, Frankie Burletson, 24, from Dagenham, who appeared at Barking Magistrate’s Court on April 26 and will appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on July 16. A second man has also now been charged with Haseeb’s murder, the Metropolitan Police have confirmed.

Swayf Amana, 26, was arrested on Monday (May 27) and later charged with murder. The man, from Barking, will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday (May 29).

The London Ambulance Service and Metropolitan Police had been called to reports of a 50-year-old man who had been stabbed, but soon found a second man, Haseeb, nearby in Flamstead Road. Despite the efforts of emergency services, 23-year-old Haseeb died at the scene. The family of Mr Bhatti are being supported by specialist officers.

The condition of the 50-year-old man was not life-threatening. He was discharged from hospital and arrested in connection with the investigation – he has since been released under investigation.

On April 26 a 24-year-old man was charged with murder of Haseeb Bhatti. Three other men were arrested and bailed in relation to the investigation.
